Birthday fun

This week has been a week of very important birthdays. My husband Thom, my nephew Aerius who turned six and my dear friend Tiana.

We took a trip to Kona with Thom's family to celebrate his big day. I gave Thom a copy of "The Curse of Lono" that morning and he brought it with him to read excerpts from along the way. Our first stop was
Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau, also know as The City of Refuge. Thom really likes the Tiki guys.

Next, we traveled to Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona to check into the Kona Seaside Hotel. I forgot how cool this Hotel was. It's exactly the way I remember it from when I was a kid in the eighties and I am sure it was exactly the same back in the sixties when it was most likely built. Blue shag carpets, an old zenith tv and chains hanging down the walls from the fan and the ceiling light. Our old red suitcase felt right at home.

From that point, we began filling ourselves with various alcoholic liquids and walked around looking at the sights. I have a new appreciation for Tiki bars, little umbrellas and really long straws. Kona is a lot cooler than I remember. I guess you just have to know where to look. This trip will live on in our hearts and minds for all eternity.

Tea Time all the time

Yes, I am drinking tea at this very moment. I am about 2/3rds of the way down on my box of PG tips. If I could, I would drink tea all day long. I think if I did, I would drive my poor husband out of his mind. I get really excited and I want to do 100 things at the same time and I turn into a chatter box. It's hard to sit down and focus on making jewelry when I'm on a tea high....

Speaking of jewelry, I expect to make a supply order very soon so that I can manifest in the physical world some of the jewelry floating in my head. I have lots of ideas that involve jobe's tears and copper. That is all that I will reveal at this time.

I have also spoken to Ira Ono of Volcano Garden Arts about carrying some of my pieces in his gallery. He gave me his card and told me to set up a time to bring my work in so that he could look at it. I am excited and a little scared at the same time. I will let you know how that goes. At this point, I don't know if I really have enough of an inventory built up to be spreading it around. I better get to work.

A lovely day in Volcano

The shining sun and the misting rain are taking turns today. I haven't decided what to do with myself yet. I could go to Punalu'u with the lovely Cristina and the ever gallant Romeo or I could stay home and clean. Hmmmm....tough choice.

Either way, I'm sure an adventure awaits me.
