A place of our own...

I asked my nephew to draw a house for me once. This is what he drew. Looking at it fills me with hope that one day we really will own a home. I hope it's as cool as this one.

I hope it sits under a crazy rainbow and has at least one giant guard flower in the yard.

One day it will happen.

In the meantime, I have my picture.

Blue Skies...

After a long break from etsy, I have decided to go back. I have set up shop on a few alternative on-line marketplaces and although easy and friendly, these other venues haven't seemed to really bring in sales.

THIS time, I will not re-list items over and over in an attempt to get views. I will simply list an item once and if it expires before it sells, I will re-list it then.

At some point, I got it into my head (I'm sure I read it somewhere on etsy) that if I kept listing my items, the customers would flock to my shop and the big bucks would start rolling in. I learned the hard (and expensive) way that it doesn't work like that.

Whatever, it's all some big stupid mystery anyway. I will get back up, dust myself off and try again.

Aaliyah would be proud.

Strawberry Pie

Marked with a "T"

On Wednesday, I baked my husband a strawberry pie and it was good.

It was his birthday and he made a very specific request for strawberry pie. It felt good to bake. I still have left over good feelings from the whole experience. Maybe it's actually the leftover pie that I feel good about.

The recipe I used was for a double crusted pie. I chose this because the crust is always my favorite part. It has to be good crust though. It was good. My mother makes the yummiest pie crust in the world. At this point, I should confess that I had to recruit her for the project. Actually, to be honest, I think she did most of the work. How kind that she was willing to let me take all of the credit.

Happy Birthday.

How Succulent

I will now reach back into the rusty recesses of my memory and resurrect a once instinctive, yet long neglected adolescent art-form. I will attempt to quickly summarize the last 6 months of my life in one long run-on sentence:

It all started when Thom and I introduced our friends and family to our band Delight Talkies at an event we named the 'Paradise Park Party Delight' that also featured belly dancers and vampire movies and then we learned a love hula and I made 7 matching earring and necklace sets for my friend Leah and then we went to Pennsylvania for the wedding of Derek and Leah and we drank whiskey and Valery and I swam in a hot tub with an amazing view and the cat opera was conceived and then we came back to Hawaii and moved around and fed dogs and cats and birds and then we lived in a tent and then flew to Japan and survived an earthquake and I lost my voice and got poisoned by a bad musubi and we introduced Japan to Delight Talkies in Roppongi at Club Trick or Treat and met some nice Russians then we came back to Hawaii and lived with a dog for awhile in Honomu and then went back to our tent and got really muddy so we moved to a house and made some new friends and drank some beer and I started selling my jewelry at the Volcano Winery and my friend Beth and I sewed our own skirts and I read the 'The Grapes of Wrath' for the first time and we went to the Kona Brewfest and stayed in room 19 at the Manago Hotel and now we are back home again.

I have also started a collection of succulents.
